How Do I Obtain Other Software (EndNote, SAS, Photoshop, etc...)

Obtaining Software

Software not included in the standard build (see Software Installed on a new computer) requires that a license be purchased prior to installation. Most of the often-requested software can be purchased from the university here, however, physical media is usually not included with purchase of the license.

Software is typically installed at the Helpdesk Staff or from the TSS software server.

The university gets discounts on many software packages. Before ordering from the vendor, please check the current discounted price list.

Software Licensing

Software & Site License Program

OSU maintains a variety of software licenses which are administered by either the Software License Coordinator (for the software listed below), or by Technology Support Services.

Legal use of all software by OSU departments, faculty, staff and students is essential, so please make sure you are familiar with the license restrictions for any of the software below that is installed on your computer(s).

The majority of the software can be installed via the web, by logging into our server over the campus network, or by checking out a CD/DVD. Due to licensing restrictions, you will be required to fill out the order form for each package to obtain access to download and install the software. Detailed information on each software package and online request forms are available by clicking on the links below.

PLEASE NOTE: Some software vendors listed below do not fully technically support Windows 7. You may be able to install and run the software on Windows 7, but you may not be able to get technical support until they officially support Windows 7. Please consult the vendor web sites for more information on supported platforms. Each software information page will be noted once we confirm they support Windows 7.

For the most current Microsoft Office Home Use Program eligibility requirements, ordering process, and pricing, refer to theTSS Software Licensing Site.

For a list of software that is available on the Virtual Server (Umbrella), please refer to the Virtual Computer Lab Software List.

PLEASE NOTE: Once you leave the university, you must remove all site-licensed software from your personal computers.  Any valid licenses on your work computers may be transferred to another employee.
