** Additionally, we can install other licensed software if presented with the media and license. Also if you wish to purchase a license for new software, we can purchase it for you at an educational discount, information regarding different software available can be found here
Software not included in the standard build (see Software Installed on a new computer) requires that a license be purchased prior to installation. Most of the often-requested software can be purchased from the university here. Most if not all of that software has the installation media located on a network share located at \\software.oregonstate.edu\software for Windows and smb://software.oregonstate.edu/software for macs. You'll only have access to the software folders for which you've received an email confirming your licensing from the Software Coordinator. We're happy to help you through that process and we may even be able to do it for you if we're building your computer at the helpdesk.
The university gets discounts on many software packages. Before ordering software on your own, check the list of software already licensed by the university and consider having us purchase it for you at the best price available.
OSU maintains a variety of software licenses which are administered by the Software License Coordinator. The full list is at https://is.oregonstate.edu/service/central-software-distribution
Legal use of all software by OSU departments, faculty, staff and students is essential, so please make sure you are familiar with the license restrictions for any of the software you install or license throught he university.
The majority of the software can be installed via the web, by logging into our server over the campus network, or by checking out a CD/DVD. Due to licensing restrictions, you will be required to fill out the order form for each package to obtain access to download and install the software. Detailed information on each software package and online request forms are available by clicking on the links below.
PLEASE NOTE: Some software vendors listed below do not fully technically support Windows 7. You may be able to install and run the software on Windows 7, but you may not be able to get technical support until they officially support Windows 7. Please consult the vendor web sites for more information on supported platforms. Each software information page will be noted once we confirm they support Windows 7.
OSU has purchased Microsoft Office 365 for all students and most faculty. Please visit https://is.oregonstate.edu/microsoft. We also install full Microsoft office on all the university owned computers that we support.
Various departments have access to different software online through Citrix. Please login into apps.oregonstate.edu to see if what your looking for is available through virtually.
PLEASE NOTE: Once you leave the university, you must remove all site-licensed software from your personal computers. Any valid licenses on your work computers may be transferred to another employee.
