The T: Drive has stabalized. The orginal problem appears to be related to an unusual number of simultanious connections to any specific folder. Some users had hundreds of "sessions" when trying to open a single file. This seemed to overload the file server and caused the file sharing protocol "SMB" to hang and become unresponsive preventing access to the T: Drive. It also appears the slowness may have occured as early as Sunday.

CoSINe will continue to monitor user connections. If you notice any slowness opening Microsoft Office files on the T: Drive please contact the help desk.

The T: Drive has recovered and is operating normally at this time. We are investigating the root cause. Until we are sure what the problem was it is possible it could occur again and necessitate another unexpected reboot. Files stored on the T: Drive are safe and intact.

Microsoft Office files stored on the T: Drive are not opening for specific folders. It appears related to the number of users trying to access a specific folder simultaneously. We are investigating solutions, but may need to reboot the server to restore services.

We will post updates as we know more.
